Hi, Everyone
I'm Juan, a media composer and music producer based in Bristol, United Kingdom. I was born in Bogota, Colombia, where I completed a Bachelor's Degree in music with an emphasis in commercial composition. I moved to the UK in 2023 to study the master's course MA Composition of Music for Film and Television at the University of Bristol.
I collaborated with producers, filmmakers, animators, and other film composers in various multimedia projects during this course.

This suspense and drama short film, shot in Bristol, United Kingdom, uses hybrid instrumentation, combining electronic textures and orchestral palettes.
False Idols (Short Film, Sequence 1) - Original Score
False Idols (Short Film, Sequence 2) - Original Score
A dark fantasy story set in Bristol, United Kingdom, following a conflict of gods hidden among the human world. The music explores hybrid instrumentation, mixing synthesisers and processed samples with orchestral libraries.
Documentaries:
Pitcher Plants (BBC Original Series excerpt) - Rescore
This experimental electronic soundtrack brings to life the second episode of the BBC original series "Earth's Tropical Islands". A carnivore plant species from Borneo accompanies the synthetic musical textures, using sampling techniques with the original sound from this BBC production.
Pelican Spider (BBC Original Series excerpt) - Rescore
This excerpt is part of the first episode of the series, showing the nocturnal life of the Pelican Spider in Madagascar. During this project, I had the pleasure of discussing the composition and production process with none other than the producer of the original series, Katheryn Jeffs, who guided me through the music narrative and development of the soundtrack. Later on, the excerpt was recorded by professional performers from the University of Bristol. I also had the opportunity to conduct the recording session.
Music Projects
Library Music 1: Originally composed for a final boss fight, this project was a collaboration between composers from the University of Bristol and computer science students at the University of West England. The team developed an action role-playing videogame set on the other side of the universe.
Library Music 2: Original work from my master's course, composed for a library dedicated to sequences full of tension, anxiety and jeopardy.
Library Music 3: This experimental electronic track uses audio samples that I recorded during my first visit to Europe. The non-related sounds from Spain are processed through samplers and effects to create a vast electronic texture.
Library Music 4: This original work from my master's course mainly explores the use of natural-sounding samples recorded in the outskirts of Bristol, United Kingdom.
Library Music 5: This track was originally composed for a specific project brief set in London, where two gangster families create chaos in one of the world's most important capitals. The music explores specific triggers such as radio transmissions, firearms shooting, and kids screaming while using an orchestral palette.
Biography
I began my musical journey back in Colombia, where I gained experience as a guitarist, pianist and singer of my band dysmurph. Alongside my undergraduate studies, I produced, recorded and mixed 2 EP's, and 5 singles, available in all streaming platforms. In 2017 I started my studies at the Pontifical Xaverian University of Bogota, where I graduated from the program Musical Studies with emphasis in Commercial Composition. In 2023 I moved to the United Kingdom to enhance my practical experience as a musician, primarily involved in composition of music for audiovisual projects, such as short films, animations and documentaries. I also have experience orchestrating for large ensembles such as big bands and symphonic orchestras.
